Verna McGrew

May 28, 1923 - November 18, 2021 (Age 98)

Verna McGrew 98, of Madison, formerly of Keystone, passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at her daughters home, surrounded by her family. She was born May 28, 1923, in Wendel, daughter of the late Mike Notovich and Mary (Dean) Notovich Rodenz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George F. McGrew Sr.; son, George (JoJo) McGrew Jr.; daughter, Scherry A. Hauliska; son-in-law, Glenn W. Hauliska Sr.; grandson, Glenn W. Hauliska Jr.; great-granddaughter, Kailey Thoms; and brother, Joseph Notovich. Verna was a member of the Herminie United Methodist Church. She loved to bake and was a great cook. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Verna is survived by her two daughters, Betty (Steve) Medved, of Irwin, and Bonnie (Jimmy) Matthews, of Madison; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Connie) Notovich, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Barry Henck officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
