Larry Glenn Howell, native resident of Charlotte, NC, passed on to be with Our Lord in Heaven at Novant Medical Hospital of Matthews, NC at 4:00 PM on May 27, 2021. He was born on February 18, 1940.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memory Gardens 8901 Lawyers Road Mint Hill, NC 28227.
His parents were Bob Glenn Howell and Mildred Beaver Howell deceased. He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Williams Howell of 57 years. He was a loving father to his daughter, Charlene Howell McNally (husband, Robert McNally), and his son, Timothy Mark Howell. He was a loving grandfather to Michael Jonathan Howell. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Baker and his brother, Donald Howell (wife, Kathy).
Larry served in the military with the Air National Guard as a Hydraulic Airplane Mechanic in 1962. He worked at BellSouth Telephone Company for 33 years where he retired as a Fiber Optic Technician. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
Larry was a hardworking man who loved the outdoors, nature and helping others. He enjoyed gardening vegetables, woodworking and saw milling. Larry was a spiritual man of faith and shared sermon audios of older pastors to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others. He donated several log cabins that were auctioned off for "One Special Christmas" to help buy needy children Christmas gifts. Larry's life was a living testimony of his faith to Our Lord in Heaven and he will be missed dearly.
