John W. Ritchey

John W. Ritchey, 84, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Fulton County Medical Center, in McConnellsburg, PA. Born in Everett, PA, John was the son of the late Theresa and Rush G. Ritchey and the loving husband to Mary A. Strait Ritchey for 35 years before her passing in 2000.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army as Military Police and after he came home was a dedicated employee at Commonwealth Telephone Co. for 50 years before his retirement.

John’s compassion, and willingness to give will be missed dearly by his family and friends who remember him as a gentle giant. He was a very social guy who knew most people. He enjoyed relaxing on Sundays. John truly loved nature, hunting, being outside, and sitting on his cabin’s porch, where he spent his final days. His cat named Kitty was very special to him.

John is survived by a son, Joseph L. Ritchey, Robertsdale, PA, a daughter Heather L. Ruble (Rob), Peach Bottom, PA, grandchildren Joseph A. Ritchey, Jocelynn M. Ritchey, Anthony L. Ritchey, Darian N. Ruble, Chase R. Ruble, Alexis M. Ruble, Madison L. Ruble, Corey R. Ruble, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers George Ritchey, Frank Ritchey, and sisters Susan Foor, Kathryn Cassey, Anna Deshong, and Elsie McDonald.

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service where his body will be returned to the ground on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 1 p.m. in Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster with Pastor Randy Hershey officiating.
