James Mansfield

October 11, 1925 - September 14, 2021 (Age 95)

James Clarence Mansfield, 95, of Southwest Greensburg, died Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born October 11, 1925, in Southwest Greensburg, a son of the late Clarence and Eldora (Boggs) Mansfield. Prior to retirement he worked as a shift foreman at PPG Industries, South Greensburg. Jim served in World War II on a Navy LCI Rocket Ship as the Gunners Mate. He was an avid golfer and former City of Greensburg champion. He was also the club champion at Valley Green Golf Course in Hempfield Township. Jim was an avid hunter and a lifelong member of the Bobby’s Run hunting camp. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, his wife of 63 years, Clara Mansfield, preceded him in death. He is survived by five children, James Gary Mansfield (Jeanne), Jeffrey Clarence Mansfield (Linda), Barbara Mansfield-Grant (Ron), Beverly Eileen Faye, and JoAnn Newman (Rich). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jim and Jessica Mansfield, Christopher and Paul Mansfield, Julie and Jonathan Faye, and Jeffry and Kristyn Newman. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park with Full Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Post No. 981, South Greensburg Honor Guard.
