Gerald “Jerry” W. Miller Sr.

84, of New Kensington, died Wednesday April 28, 2021 in UPMC St. Margaret Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in New Kensington on November 20, 1936 to the late Arthur O. and Verlene Johnson Miller and was a life long resident of New Kensington.

Jerry was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell. He worked as a machinist for ALKAB Manufacturing, New Kensington and as a teacher for Forbes Trail Technical School in Monroeville. During high school he was an excellent basketball and baseball player. He excelled at golf playing with the "guys" at River Forest and Hillcrest Country Club where he was Club champion and Hannastown. A life long fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates he rarely missed a game on tv or an opportunity to "critique" them.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Lois B. Roffol Miller, three children Sandra (Richard) Dunkel of Lower Burrell, Patricia (Scott) Schaffner of North Hills, Jerry Miller Jr. of Richmond, VA., six grandchildren Jessica (Luke) Healey, Stephanie (Jimmy) Duttry, Nicole Miller, Eric Dunkel, Sarah Schaffner, and Rachel Schaffner, four great grandchildren Olivia Healey, Jackson Duttry, Matthew Healey and Elliott Duttry.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Bob Miller.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass Monday at 10 AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, 3055 Leechburg Rd. Lower Burrell. The family suggests donations made in his name to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation https://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/
