Edward Haines

June 13, 1948 - November 25, 2021 (Age 73)

Edward J. Haines, 73, of Hannastown, died Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was born June 13, 1948, in New Kensington, a son of the late Harry and Agnes Permuko Haines. Ed was a 1967 graduate of GSHS . He was a member of Troop #403 in SW Greensburg and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was two badges short of becoming an Eagle Scout. He coached for two years with the Greensburg Jr. Legion and umpired for several years for the Hempfield Recreation Department. Ed served in the US Army during 1967-69, stationed at Ascom Depot, just fifteen miles from the Korean DMZ Zone. He also served in the National Guard for four years in Latrobe. Ed was a custodian and also had been a school bus driver for the Hempfield Area School District, driving bus #2 and #23. He was a life member of Hose Co. #7 VFD and had recently received the 50 Year service award from the state. He was also a life member of the Westmoreland County and the PA State Fireman's Association. He also volunteered for the Westmoreland Country Department of Public Safety (939) and was a member of the VFW Post #33. Ed was an avid Steeler and Pirates fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-three years, Barbara Ann Bihon Haines. He is survived by his brother, Harry Haines (Marjorie) of Latrobe; three brother-in-laws, Tom Bihon (Judy) of Hannastown, Andy Bihon of Tidioute and John Bihon (Lounna) of Larimer; special cousins, Pat and Ron Burke of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Ed, Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Pantalone Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. Please be prepared to adhere to all current CDC guidelines. Members of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department will meet on Monday at the funeral home at 7 p.m. for a service. Ed’s family has entrusted his care to the Pantalone Funeral Home Inc., Greensburg.
