His family moved to Polkton, NC where Charles graduated from Anson High school in 1961. While working at the Foundry he also worked several other jobs to make ends meet. Finally, settling into raising livestock, something he enjoyed as a boy on the farm. He retired from the Foundry after 40+ years of service, then started a small business, ‘Holman Fabricating’ where he did custom ornamental gate work for 10 years. He had a passion for creativity working with metal and teaching others his craft.

His is survived by his wife Ruth, and two children: daughter Tammy of Indian Trail with husband Jeremy Smith and son Mark of Lincolnton with wife Kim Holman. His only grandchild Jessica Rivenbark with husband Jonathan of Eden, NC. As well as sisters Coralee Tyson of Monroe, Doris Martin of Asheboro, Carol Saunders of Charlotte.

The most important thing to Charles was family. The love of his life Ruth whom he was married to for 60+ years. He loved being outdoors fishing and hunting in his early years and then transitioning to coaching his kids in sports.

Losing our beloved Dad, friend, coach, and mentor. He was the rock of our family! He created a loving, safe household built on a foundation of Jesus Christ and hard work. He was disciplined, strong, funny, and in every situation good for his word. He never left any doubt about how he felt about you. His unwavering love as a husband, father, and provider could be seen in every aspect of his life. His good nature and sound advice will lead us for the rest of our lives.
