Betty Ann Rhodes

April 15, 1937 - March 27, 2024 (Age 86)

Betty Ann Rhodes, 86, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Grandview Estates in Elizabeth. She was born April 15, 1937 in New Eagle, the daughter of Frank B. and Ann Zuranski O'Lexa.

Betty was employed by the Ringgold School District in the dietary department. She later retired from Mon Valley Hospital’s dietary department in 2001.

She was a licensed cosmetologist, having attended the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. Betty owned and operated her own in-home salon, Bobette’s Boutique, since the early 1980s.

Betty was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and a very spiritual woman. She enjoyed playing cards with the girls from the club and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, David Rhodes of Monongahela, Dennis (Tracy) Rhodes of Sarasota, Florida, Dan Rhodes of Pittsburgh; daughter, Patricia (David) Suydam of New Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Erin Suydam, Brian (Fiona) Suydam, Brandon Suydam, Katherine (Jon) Koop, Jacqueline (Ken) Harper, Kelly (Slavic) Kolomiychenko, Kristy (Eric) Petersen, Tim (Hannah) Nixon; nine great grandchildren, Blake and Hailey Richards, Eli and Thomas Suydam, Timothy Nixon, Sierra and Luke Harper, Cole and Grant Petersen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Rhodes; four brothers, Frank O'Lexa, Jr., John, Ronald, and Robert O'Lexa; and sister, Ruth Cutright.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 9-10:30 AM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Funeral prayers will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
